The Krav Maga Self Defense System was developed in the 1930s(?) by Imi Lichtenfeld. It soon became the combat system used to train the newly formed Israelian army. The system was designed to bring an untrained individual into a fierce fighter in a very short amount of time.
Eventually, a version of Krav Maga was adapted to better suit civilian needs.
